South Central Rly gets 19 services
This time the South Central Railway did not get as many projects and new services from the Railway Budget as it did last year. But, even then, its share in the Budget has some significant offerings.
Apart from eight new express train services, the railway zone got Rs 124 crore towards passenger amenities, as against the revised grant of Rs 100 crore for 201213. About Rs 280 crore has been allotted towards construction of new lines, which is the same allotment as this year.
The major announcements for the South Central Railway in the Budget include setting up of a coach midlife rehabilitation workshop at Kurnool, an exclusive centralised institute for the finance officers at Secunderabad and a neer bottling plant at Vijayawada. Further, under the National Skill Development Programme, Railways would impart skills to the youth in railwayrelated trades at Kazipet.
